Marketing Manager
The Startup Garage is looking to bring on someone with a passion for entrepreneurship in the field of marketing. This person will help with execution of the marketing plan.
We are seeking someone who is a proficient writer and eager to learn about the startup process. This person should be able to work quickly while maintaining a high level quality of work.
This person will also support digital marketing efforts, and should be moderately tech-savvy, with the willingness to learn.
Activities will include: managing a website, SEO, social media, online PR, viral marketing, email marketing, PPC, article submission and traditional marketing tactics.
In this position, you will learn a great deal about starting a business and the capital raising process.
Job Objective:
- To support marketing efforts and further establish online presence
Job Responsibilities:
- Article writing
- Publishing to the website
- Research and topic suggestion
- Corresponding with partners and service providers
- Video editing (will teach)
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Skilled in: professional writing and research
Compensation:
This will be part time, starting at 20 hours a week. Schedule will be Monday, Wednesday, Friday in Encinitas (roughly 10 to 5). Rate is $12/hr.

Business Development Manager
The Startup Garage is seeking someone with a love for networking and talking business.
You must be highly motivated and energetic and passionate about entrepreneurship. Possessing a collection of current San Diego business contacts is ideal.
Entrepreneurial experience is a plus!
Job Objective:
- Identify business opportunities
- Build strategic partnerships
- Achieve financial growth
- Negotiate and close deals
- Maintain knowledge of current market conditions
Job Responsibilities:
- Attend events and meetings in San Diego
- Meet and develop relationships among organization decision makers
- Identify strategic business partners and cultivate organizational relationships
- Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends
- Present to and consult with management on business trends with insight for developing new services, products and distribution channels.
Job Qualifications:
- Skilled in: networking, prospecting skills, research, closing skills, motivation for sales, sales planning, identification of customer needs and challenges, market knowledge, meeting sales goals, professionalism, CRM and Microsoft Office.
Compensation:
$12/hr with opportunities to earn commission. Certain expenses will be reimbursed. This position will require about 8-10 hours a week, between scheduling meetings, attending events and traveling locally in the San Diego area. Must have own transportation.
